Staycation Fall Fashion

OUTFIT DETAILS: SKIRT | TURTLENECK | HAT | SANDALS (now under $20) or similar HERE | BAG: ZARA or similar HERE

Happy Monday! My weekend was wonderful because we had a little staycation, courtesy of the Element Hotel in Boston's Seaport. It was perfect timing since I really needed a couple of days to relax. The hotel is modern, eco-conscious and great for families. If you follow me on Twitter you probably got a peek at the room and saw how sleek and functional it is. My daughter spent the majority of our time there in the heated indoor pool while I zoned out with a magazine, and by magazine I mean Instagram. Outfit details and more on our stay are below!

As we're squarely in Fall with the weather going up and down daily, I packed a few wrinkle resistant things to take me through the weekend. This a-line skirt is extremely low maintenance and travel-friendly. It comes in several other colors as well, including a beige color that I love. The red color doesn't seem to be available online but if you like it you can check it for it in-store. It's a pull-on design and also has pockets, which is always great. I don't always like to carry a bag and when you have pockets you have the option not to lug one. This skirt is also on sale now for only $20 - a great for everyday or travel. I'm planning to style this skirt with this fun graphic sweater and this chic mustard lighweight vest as the weather gets a little colder.

Turtlenecks are probably the most used item in my Autumn/Winter wardrobe. I'm currently buying them like crazy, starting with this bright plum tissue-weight one (which also comes in 7 other colors). As you can see,  you can wear it by itself now and when the temps are cooler, it's a fun pop of color underneath a flannel shirt, a pretty button-down, and your winter coat. I also really like these heat-tech layering turtlenecks for staying warm. The dark red color is so pretty.

The location of the Element hotel is perfect for sight-seeing. The Seaport has tons of cute cafes, eateries and shopping so everything is right there. If you're a fitness buff, you'll like the outdoor boot-camps that are offered on the weekend within walking distance of the hotel. The hotel is also just half a mile walk from South Boston, which is an old-school Boston neighborhood with lots of character. We stopped in at Certified Meatballs for lunch - hubby's pick. I'm always in the mood for Asian food so I went with the Bahn-ini.

Right across the street from the Element is the Aloft, a sister property, with a similar style but a more colorful aesthetic. The concierge handed my daughter a gift bag as soon as we walked in and she was immediately sold. Happy child = better vacation. I always remember these little touches when choosing a hotel for a family stay!

My fiddler cap was my constant companion this weekend (also just bought this mustard one). I am perpetually trying to hide bad hair and this weekend was no exception. The humidity was really high with rain showers so I knew there was zero chance of pretty hair. So, hat it was. I like that this one works on small crowns so if you have a small head like me, give this one a whirl.

As you might know from previous posts, I love a good circle bag. My favorite is this one but it's on the splurge side. If you don't feel like dropping $800 on this style, this one is a slightly more budget friendly option and also a little edgier. Other than black options, this creamy light pink circle bag is to die for. I want these bags in every color - maybe Santa will bring me one:)

Last but not least, my pink satin sandals are from the summer - you can see them styled here. They're perfect as a pop of color for the evening and are currently under $20 on sale. So if you like them, this is the time to grab them! They're also super soft and comfortable since the heel isn't very high.

Hope you had a wonderful weekend and thanks for reading! xo
