Wide Leg Pants

I wanted to share my latest fashion addiction with you - wide leg pants! As you know, I don't wear pants and jeans all that often. The skinny variety aren't that flattering on me and even boyfriend styles can be tricky for me. Luckily, wide leg pants are a completely different story. They're SO flattering. Plus this is a fashion trend that is actually super wearable for everyday, and for ALL body types. In today's post I'm sharing 4 reasons to buy a pair of wide leg pants asap if you don't already own some. PS: For those interested in fast forwarding to outfit links, just scroll down all the way to the bottom and see "Outfit Details" -  I won't be offended!

Leg-lengthening - need I say more. My short legs are the bane of my fashion existence so the fact that wide leg pants have the ability to make my legs look longer and slimmer is total gold. There are a couple of keys to buying a flattering pair of these though. One is to choose a high-waisted pair like mine and the second is to make sure the legs are wide, but not too voluminous.  My exact pants are sold out online in camel but these are a very close dupe at only $60. They're available in camel and black so you're guaranteed to get a ton of wear out of them. They have a nice heavy drape which is really important for anyone with thicker legs. Another camel pair I bought (though they are is this pair in a cotton-synthetic blend. These aren't exactly wide leg pants, more of a sporty style, but they're also super cute so I thought I'd link them.

As someone with big hips, I really love that wide leg pants are so flattering on my curves. I appreciate that not everybody is trying to minimize their hips and I'm totally not saying that you should! I believe everyone should dress for themselves, the way they want, the way that makes them feel their best. But if your hips happen to be a "problem" area for you (already not looking forward to that holiday weight gain!), then you'll love wide leg pants. It's important to choose a pair that are cut slim but not tight on the hip area and where the legs of the pants cut away from your body right around the biggest part of your hips.

On top of being super flattering, this style of trouser is just super comfortable. It feels like being in PJs all day and who doesn't like that. If you buy a stretchy pair you can even do a little morning yoga in them - only half-joking:) Of course the material is a big factor in how comfortable your pants are. I prefer a synthetic mix for the Fall/Winter because it's warm and soft. I usually find wool pants itchy so a synthetic blend tends to be the best choice.

This style is truly perfect for work or the weekend. My wardrobe is made up of pieces you can wear to the office or style casually, so this style fits right in. You could wear this exact outfit to work or on the weekend depending on how dressy you like to be. If you prefer a more casual look for the weekend, you can easily swap out the top and footwear for a more laid back look. These fresh white kicks are perfect with the camel of the pant and would look really chic with this burgundy pleated trouser as well. For the top, a boxy white tee or this cute graphic tee would be so chic. You can layer over with a light weight vest. This soft, compact one with metallic finish is hands-down my favorite right now. It comes in so many colors and I love the fit.

So there you have it - 4 reasons to grab a pair of wide leg trousers! I've linked my favorites throughout the post as well as in the linked scroll bar below. Quite a few are on sale, and you'll probably see me wearing a similar pair again very soon as I plan to wear this style A LOT. Especially in neutral Fall colors like camel and burgundy.

Hope you're enjoying the Fall wherever you live. In New England the weather has been really mild, which has been great. But I've bought a couple of awesome jackets I'm dying to wear and I need the temps to drop just 5 degrees or so! I'm all about the bold outerwear - you?

Thanks for reading and leave me a comment with your thoughts on wide leg pants - are you on board or do they feel too "runway" for you?
