Work Style Navy Skirt Stripes and Lemon Lime
Pleats, midi length anything, and stripes - these are a few of my favorite things! Hope you guys aren't getting bored of seeing midis on the blog because I have a feeling this trend is going to stick around for a little while yet. This navy skirt from the Nordstrom Anniversary sale, which I had linked on the blog a few days ago, finally arrived and it's perfection, particularly for under $60. It's going up to $85 on August 8 so if you like it, grab it soon. I like to think of myself as something of a midi-skirt connoisseur and seriously, this skirt is one of the best I've had. Read more to see why.

SKIRT: TOPSHOP | TOP: OLD, SIMILAR HERE | SCARF: LOFT | SHOES: OLD, SIMILAR HERE AND the cutest mustard bow pumps HERE | BAG: MARC JACOBS | SUNGLASSES: LOFT

Topshop's done it again with this skirt. It's fully lined, the waist fits perfectly (which is always a problem for me), the length is perfect and it has amazing movement due to the accordion pleats and the gentle a-line cut. Don't be discouraged by the low-ish rating on the site. There are only 2 reviews so I don't think this skirt got a fair shot to be honest. One of the complaints was that this skirt isn't flattering to hourglass figures and I didn't find that to be the case at all. And I'm a pear shape so I should know! I love this skirt so much that I also got it in the chartreuse color, which unfortunately isn't included in the sale but the color is so fresh and different that I couldn't resist. I'm shooting to have all the colors of the rainbow in midi-skirts in my closet:)

My accessories - both the sunglasses and scarf - are from Loft, a store I haven't shopped in for a while. Historically I haven't had much luck in that store. In past years I found most of their stuff to be uninspiring, but this season I've found several pieces there that are really nice and it doesn't hurt that they were all on mega sale. As their shopping bags say,  you gotta "love a good sale":)

This lemon and lime scarf is the cutest thing. The chartreuse combined with navy makes it the perfect fun summer accessory. And all that citrus just cheers you up, as does the $12 price (listed at $25 and 50% off on checkout, no code needed). The yellow sunnies are also on sale ($15) - I love the retro vibe and the unusual color. This color, a mustard/brown blend that Loft described as "birch", is the most amazing neutral. I like the unexpected tortoiseshell arms too. It's really a great score for $15!

Since the anchor piece of this outfit is solid navy, I threw in a striped top and yellow color pops to keep the outfit interesting. The sleeveless sweater has been worn a ton since I bought it. You can see it styled here with the matching cardigan for a work look. And here I wore just the shell, tucked into the skirt. The sweater I have has a little orange stripe at the bottom, which I couldn't find it online anymore but this cashmere navy/white striped shell, also from J.Crew, is almost identical and a great one to grab right now since Fall is around the corner.

My shoes are super duper old but this pair was one of the good ones that have held up despite countless wears. Mustard is one of my favorite neutrals and whenever I'm trying to spice up a look this color is one of the first I reach for. I linked two other pairs for you that are in a similar color palette that I love, including a pair of mustard pumps with a bow that I'll probably end up getting.

Mustard always makes me think of Fall as well, as does the sudden abundance of pumpkin shaped cookies I'm seeing everywhere. Have you noticed those? I was just at Barnes & Noble and it was like pumpkin land there. I don't remember Fall marketing starting this early in past years?  Not complaining though, since I love Fall! Just going to start dreaming of suede boots, fall coats and pumpkin pie. 1. How do you maintain an accordion skirt? I have one very similar from Ann Taylor from a few years back and the pleats are fading. The dry cleaners say there's nothing they can do :(
