tassel skirt, outfit casual, sporty, metallic sneakers, crop top, loft, h&m, straw hat, city chic, urban style, street style

Ah the weekend! You guys know I typically spend weekends in some sort of dress or skirt, plus wedge or platform sandal combo. So cropped top and sneakers is completely different for me. Are you surprised? Sneakers have for the past few years featured prominently in the model-off-duty look - so very chic. Over the years I've flirted with this trend but honestly was never fully happy with the results. Anyway, fast forward to this awesome metallic pair I found just a few days ago and I was sold. After buying these, I'm now in a sneaker shopping frenzy and bought this cute printed pair that has a platform - best of both worlds!

SKIRT: LOFT | TANK: BP NORDSTROM | JACKET: LOFT | HAT: ANN TAYLOR similar HERE | BAG: FOREVER 21 similar HERE or my SPLURGE FAVE here | SHOES: H&MThese sneakers somehow don't bother my flat feet at all and are so cute. The metallic finish dresses up whatever you pair it with. I pushed my daughter around the city in her stroller and did some hardcore playground time and couldn't have been more comfortable. I'm hooked! My tasseled skirt is a new addition from the sale racks. It's the perfect alternative to shorts, and the tassels and tiers of this skirt make it a great buy, especially at the sale price. The color is great for summer - punchy, and not too pink, not too orange. It's somewhere between salmon and grapefruit. My husband and I had a lively discussion about the color. He said it looks pink and I said salmon. The online description says "Neon Coral" - so I'm going to say I win. This skirt's fully lined and I took the regular misses size,  not the petite and the length hits me right about at the knee, which is what I wanted. I'd say it runs true to size (and is super comfortable). It also comes in black, which they didn't have left in the store I stopped in to but they do have it online. I'm tempted to grab it since we still have several weeks of summer left and you can create a different look with black - elevate the look with a black turtleneck for Fall I'm thinking?I paired the skirt with a very simple black sleeveless cropped tank which shows a little bit of mid-riff without exposing too much. It's been about 7 years since I last wore a cropped top and I think the cropped look can be hard to pull off in an appropriate way at a certain life-stage. This skirt lends itself to mid-riff baring in a way because it has an elasticized waist. That means you can pull it up or down and control how much skin you show. I wore the skirt so the waistband hit right at or slightly above my belly-button which got me the look I was going for.Speaking of the look I was going for, I wanted something a little different from the usual feminine, somewhat conservative styles I've been wearing a lot this summer. The sneakers and tank definitely add some urban grit to the girly-ness of the skirt and make it more of a casual look, perfect for the weekend's adventures with my husband and daughter. In the Fall, I'm probably going to do some texture mixing with this skirt. Mixing different fabrics and textures is one of the easiest ways to look stylish. I honestly don't even think there's a way to do it wrong, as long as you wear it with confidence and own your look! I might wear this with a grandfather style cardigan, plaid shirt, and booties. Bottom line is there's a lot to like about this skirt - like the tiers and tassels - at an under $25 price point. My daughter also loves this skirt (those tassels!) so this piece is a win for me.I also added a new cross-body bag to my relatively small bag collection. Love this little brown saddlebag,  which looks so much more expensive than it is. I think I might have done a double take when I saw it in the store. This size, shape and cutouts are my favorite. Unfortunately I couldn't find this particular one online but I've linked a couple of similar styles that are perfect for summer and beyond, as well as easy on the wallet.SHOP MY LOOK HERE:
