It's been a very hot July and when the weather gets so sticky it can be harder to figure out what to wear to work. Blazers are less appealing and pants on a hot summer day are out of the question for me. On those days one of my favorite things to wear to work is a wrap dress. It's a feminine, yet structured - perfect for the office.

I picked this one up a few days ago because of the pretty navy diamond print and the fit of this dress. My summer wardrobe has been dominated by floral prints recently so this diamond print lets me mix it up a little! This is definitely going to be a regular in my weekly rotation. Read on for details on fit and sizing and how to wear this dress for evening.

DRESS: ANN TAYLOR | CARDIGAN: ANN TAYLOR | SHOES: ANN TAYLOR - sold out but also love THESE | EARRINGS: ANN TAYLOR | BAG: MICHAEL KORS | SUNGLASSES: STELLA MCCARTNEY

This dress has such a nice fluid feel to it and the weight of the material is really figure-flattering. Ann Taylor has been one of my favorite destinations for work clothes through the years. Their dresses are classic and well-designed. They withstand trends so you can wear them year over year, which always makes me happy. I have an Ann Taylor faux wrap dress from 8 years ago that I still wear, which makes Ann Taylor one of the first stores I check out for my work wardrobe.

I bought this dress in regular size 0 versus my usual petite size since I wanted the dress to hit at the knee, rather than above. The Petite 0 hits above the knee on me. If you're petite and prefer a slightly shorter length, you may want to try the petite size. Since I got the regular size 0 I wasn't sure if the arm holes would be too large and the neckline too deep but I was pleasantly surprised that the fit was perfect. No cami needed and perfect for work. It also has thoughtful details like a button on the inside (at the waist) to secure the first "wrap" of the dress so you don't find yourself having to re-tie your dress through the day.

This dress also comes in a brushstroke and tropical print that are so wearable right now, as well as in four solid colors including two super cute brights that are perfect for summer. Since the fit and quality are so good I'm considering grabbing another one of these. For under $100 they're a solid spend. I love the cactus rose color for a statement-making look, as well as the navy for a very classic look.

This wrap dress is so easily styled for a night out or date night. Just add strappy sandals (love these metallic ones) and a little clutch and you're good to go. If you wanted to show more leg, you could even go with the petite size for a slightly shorter length and more snug fit overall. If you like a lower heel, this silver sandal from Nordstrom is SO cute and under $60. I'm also looking forward to wearing this in the Fall with a cardigan or blazer.

Since indoor temps are frosty in the summer I always make sure I have a light layer with me. For this outfit I grabbed my Ann Taylor 3/4 sleeve cardigan which I love. It's so soft and the sleeve length is perfect on petites. It's also thin enough to make it easy to layer under and over. This cardi is now on sale for $50 with an extra 60% off (no code needed), making it under $25 - awesome price. If you're not petite or want a longer sleeve, they also offer this cardigan in regular sizes as well as in a full length sleeve.

I accessorized this outfit pretty minimally but did swap out my usual pearl stud earrings with sparkly crystal and stone drop earrings in navy. I'm planning to get a lot of wear out of these since they're muted enough to wear to the office and can also be worn in the evening, maybe with hair up to show them off more. These are only around $20 right now with the 60% off promotion.

I've linked the items in this look as well as some of my other favorite wrap dresses of the season below. Thanks for reading and happy shopping!

  1. I think dresses can be so easy for all of us!! I really like that you paired this with brown sandals too---I might have gone with my nude ones...but that's getting a little boring, so I like your inspiration!
