WEEKEND STYLE: SPRING BRIGHTS AND PASTELS

I've always loved saturated brights and am having so much fun this year wearing vivid colors and creating color blocked looks. I can remember color blocking being really in vogue a few years ago. As with any trend, you couldn't go to a store without seeing a mass of color blocked designs everywhere. I wasn't a big fan and always wondered when it would end. It did end, and now here I am years later mimicking that trend - ironic right?

BUTTON-DOWN SHIRT: BANANA REPUBLIC (now on SALE) | JEANS (also on SALE now): TOPSHOP VIA NORDSTROM | PUMPS: SOLE SOCIETY | BAG: FLYNN VIA SHOPBOP (red is now restocked and I love the black too) | SUNGLASSES: TOM FORD (OLD) | LIPS: NARS ANNABELLA (POPPY RED)

In addition to pastels there are also so many beautiful brights in stores right now. Some days I'm in the mood to go with lighter tone-on-tone looks like here. Other days, like this weekend, I'm all about pairing stand-out colors with pretty pastels. Fashion is all about creativity and fun, so why not try to pair colors you love together and experiment.

I can't say enough good things about this collared shirt. Since I bought it it's truly been in heavy rotation, at least once a week. I styled it with a pencil skirt, mom jeans in this post, and as we continue to get warmer weather in Boston, it'll be coming up with white jeans next. I'm going to really get my money's worth from this one haha.

Now about mom jeans...what do you guys think? These are my first pair EVER and I have to say they're pretty flattering. For Petites and those with shorter legs, the higher waist elongates your legs while the roomier fit in the thighs and legs is a nice breather from ankle-clinging skinny jeans. Some days I just don't feel like being squeezed into skin tight pants. For these reasons I think mom jeans are going to play a bigger role in my weekend wardrobe. They also look so cute paired with a boyfriend blazer for a casual Friday look.

About these adorable periwinkle suede pumps, they are such a pretty color! The heel is on the lower side for me but SO comfortable! I'm looking forward to wearing these with whites for a light pop of color, with pretty sundresses in the summer and with greys when temps start to drop again.

More matchy-matchy outfits are definitely going to pop up on the blog. What do you think of color-blocked looks and what are your favorite color combinations for spring?

Thanks so much for reading. Hope you liked this look and if you're in the market for some petite-friendly mom jeans, I would highly recommend these. I didn't have to alter these at all and for fit reference I'm 5'1" with fuller hips. Happy Easter weekend and see you back here on Tuesday with a work look from my week!
