rainy day style, trench coat, red coat, raincoat, single-breasted trench, bright red coat, petite raincoat, red bag, cross-body bag, flynn, hunter, rainwear, mommy style, mom style, elegant look, chic, street style, white pumps, polka dot

Rainy season has officially started! A big silver lining of spring showers is that I get to wear one of my favorite pieces of clothing - a trench. Known for being figure-flattering, and guaranteed to add sophistication to almost any outfit, a good trench-coat is truly a spring wardrobe essential. Although I prefer to have a small wardrobe and am not normally tempted to buy several of any style,  I do have to exercise some serious self-control when it comes to trench-coats.

spring colors, spring outfit, bright colors, saturated colors, spring style, colorblocking, lipstick red, tomato red, periwinkle blue, pastel blue, crossbody bag

I've always loved saturated brights and am having so much fun this year wearing vivid colors and creating color blocked looks. I can remember color blocking being really in vogue a few years ago. As with any trend, you couldn't go to a store without seeing a mass of color blocked designs everywhere. I wasn't a big fan and always wondered when it would end. It did end, and now here I am years later mimicking that trend - ironic right?

leopard pumps, oversize coat, masculine coat, wool coat, sleeveless vest, button-down, everyday style, chic, city style, street style, statement bag, pop of color
Happy Tuesday! Sadly it's colder in Spring than it was in Winter this year. Sooo, I'm still in lots of layers. I start to get antsy and impatient when it's the end of March and it's still cold. I completely lose tolerance for temps below 40. I notice I start to really pile on colors and go a little crazy with mixing textures and layers, as if the colors will warm me up. I have 4 layers on - tank top, button-down, a shawl-collar vest, and then this long wool coat!

Work Style - Ruffles and Blush
Well I did it, I jumped on the blush bandwagon. I have to admit I resisted it - not the more pigmented pink of the patent leather belt or the sunnies, but the pastel pink of the blouse. I usually go with warmer neutrals but this is the year for blushes and pastel pinks and I couldn't resist. It's just so pretty. What do you think of the colors?

maxi, spring dress, summer dress, long sleeves, saddlebag, plum bag, crossbody bag, statement earrings, nude pumps, laceup shoes, relaxed style, vacation ready, mommy style, mom style, feminine style, beach style
One of my favorite things to do on the weekend is to explore some of the quaint New England towns that surround Boston. This past weekend we headed to Marblehead, a small seaside town with rocky beaches, pretty lighthouses and lots of charm. There's really nothing quite as restorative for me as sitting on a bench in the sun, looking out at the sparkling water and not looking at my phone. It got me dreaming about a warm vacation somewhere (which I have coming up in a few weeks yay!). One item I always pack when I go on vacation is a maxi dress. For me, a maxi dress styled with statement earrings and pretty footwear is the epitome of relaxation and subtle glamor.

sequins, sequin skirt, sequins everyday, pencil skirt, spring style, mixing textures, crewneck sweater, beige knit, neutral sweater, sparkly pencil skirt, easy style
Happy Friday everyone! So excited for this weekend - it's supposed to be nice out!

Today's post is about bringing little elements of fancy into our everyday and involves...sequins! Sequins are usually associated with dressier or party contexts so we don't see too much of them in daytime style. I say if you like sequins - and this goes for anything dressy - there's no reason you shouldn't wear them in your day to day. After all fashion is first and foremost about making yourself happy.

shirtdress, pinstripe, silky dress, midi, booties, via spiga, cluse watch, prada camera bag, black trench, belted dress

I was on a Target trip the other day to buy boring things like toothpaste when I walked past the WhoWhatWear section and of course got sucked in. I have to admit I'm a little late in checking out this collaboration because it hit stores several weeks ago which is sooo long ago in fashion blogger world. Anyway, I'm glad it's still in stores because...what an amazing dress! Great quality, a chic cut and in the flattering midi-length and best of all, under $40!

gingham button-down, checked button-down, dark rinse jeans, high-rise jeans, white ankle booties, camel sweater, camel coat, camel belt, tote, oversize watch
Happy Friday! I wanted to share a denim look for the weekend that's not the distressed/ripped variety (even though I do love my ripped jeans). In other posts I've talked about what a challenge it is to find a well fitting pair of jeans with a small waist and fuller hips so needless to say it's always a big win when you find one that works for your shape. If you're in the market for a pair of dark rinse mid or high-rise jeans, the ones I'm wearing, this designer pair or these COH ones are two of my favorites. The COH pair are on sale on the last day of the sale (with code BIGEVENT16). Another option at an unbelievable $12.90 is this black pair! I hope these picks save you some time in the fitting room.

tweed trousers, trousers, tweed, high-waisted, black suede pumps, oversize clutch, black body suit, asos work wear, leaf necklace, tom ford sunglasses, coffee
Just a short post to show these amazingly cute and comfortable tweed pants. This style is such an amazing work-wear option. It's polished and tailored but feels like you're wearing pajamas. Comfort is key for me so whenever I come across something that's stylish and comfortable, I'm buying it. I styled this in a very basic way here because I wanted the focus to be the pants but they would be so cute with lace-up sandals and a ruffle blouse too!

midiskirt, white midiskirt, white pleated skirt, accordion skirt, grey tunic, tom ford sunglasses, minimalist watch, sneakers, wedge sneakers

Just a quick post to share this casual weekend look. I went for a hike at the Middlesex Fells Reservation, a relaxing hiking trail north of Boston, very different from the canyon hikes in LA. It always feels good to get some time in nature and quiet when all you can hear is birds and trees.
