 Perfect spring outfit
This is the first weekend that it really feels like Spring is around the corner - so exciting. I picked this twirly rose skirt to wear for ice-cream Saturday with my husband and daughter in Salem, a historic town north of the city of Boston. The skirt is the most amazing neutral dusty pink and has a subtle gold sheen that just makes me happy. It's also pleated and midi-length, maybe just a tiny bit longer than midi. I love the feminine silhouette it creates - so graceful and flattering to the hips. A skirt like this adds so much to your wardrobe because it can be styled in endless ways. I'll probably be wearing this one on repeat through Spring and possibly even in the Fall. Really the perfect weekend skirt in my book.

A leopard cardigan was my first pick for this skirt because I was in the mood for a fun, plush-feeling outfit with texture and dimension. Since leopard is busy I kept the rest of the outfit grounded with neutrals like the black mini-bag and sunglasses, ecru boots and plum belt. The faux fur vest and simple delicate jewelry also help to keep the outfit interesting and not overwhelming. I tucked in the cardigan to show off the cut of the skirt to full effect.

A note to petite readers: the skirt is a US size 0 petite and was still a little large at the waist. Instead of taking it to alterations, which I loathe because I'm lazy, I used a belt to cinch it to where I needed. It also allowed me to bring the skirt up an inch on the waist since I wanted a little bit of a high-waisted look and wanted the skirt to hit mid-calf.

This belt called my name from a bunch of clearance belts lying in a busy basket at Banana Republic. I love the deep plum and could immediately think of so many outfits I could wear it with, which for me is a must. I recently came across an article that talked about "mindful shopping" and it resonated with me because it's a nice way to describe how I try to shop. As a personal stylist I encourage my clients to do the same. Before you buy something it helps to try to think of at least 3 things you could wear with it that you already own. Doing that will make sure you get maximum use out of every item and that way you can shop guilt-free!

Here's my precious pumpkin again, looking sleepy because she was bored while we were taking pictures. She managed to be patient in anticipation of our ice-cream treat haha.

Last but not least, my apologies for the messy hair. I actually think it kind of works for the weekend but it absolutely wasn't intentional. I washed it, air dried, braided it loosely and didn't bother with a hair tie. As luck would have it, it turned out to be a windy day and so the hair got progressively worse as the afternoon went on. Anyway, be warned that unlike most style bloggers I'm absolutely terrible with both hair and make-up and it will probably show in many posts!

Have a wonderful Sunday and see you mid-week for Look #2 of the work outfit series (1 Skirt/3 Looks) that I posted last week. Thanks for reading!
