moto jacket, biker jacket, faux leather jacket, slightly shrunken fit, tortoiseshell sunglasses, michael kors handbag, tophandle bag, structured handbag, spring handbag

I'm not really trend-driven and won't wear things that aren't flattering on me even if they're in. Leather jackets used to be one of those things that I didn't think were the greatest look on me. That's mainly because I'm finicky with fit and feel, and I couldn't find anything under $500 that wasn't too boxy, too thick or had some other problem. The other day though I popped into H&M and saw this little jacket on the rack, tried it on and was delighted that it actually fit me AND was super inexpensive.
platform sandals, black platforms, opaque tights, striped dress, fit and flare dress, tophandle bag, cross-body bag
moto jacket, biker jacket, striped dress, all season dress, elongate your legs, platform shoes, look taller, look leaner
madewell, striped dress, small neutral handbag, top handle bag, platform shoes

Transition from winter to spring, perfect moto jacket, soft moto jacket, taupe handbag, cocktail ring, burberry sunglasses, classic style, feminine style

About the jacket: It's mid-weight and very pliable. It would make an excellent layer under a heavier winter coat for very cold weather. It was mid-50's when I wore it so it was more than adequate by itself. For a narrow torso the cut is tailored but not extremely form fitting. You could easily wear a sweater or heavier knit under it with plenty of room and without bulking up your look.

One of the biggest fit problems for petites tends to be the shoulders and this one fits well in the shoulder area so that's a win right away. The arms are also cut narrow enough to create the more streamlined profile I was looking for. The zipper on the cuffs also gives you a few ways to wear it - folded back like I did, or pushed up your arm. I also love the details like the quilted sections on the shoulders and arms, and the diagonal front zipper.

I layered the jacket over a black and white striped dress that will be getting lots of play this Spring but is already in rotation as a base layer. Boston is in what I call yo-yo season right now. One day is freezing cold and feels like the dead of winter, and the next is sunny and springy, and then right back to blustery and cold. It keeps you on your toes.

The bag was one of my Nordstrom sale purchases and is sold out in this color at Nordstrom but still available at a couple of other retailers and now on MAJOR sale (linked above!). Spring calls for a top-handle bag in a neutral color and this is a phenomenal option. If you're looking for something under $200 that's real leather and offers structure, top handles and styling versatility (you can wear this one cross-body) then this is the way to go. The leather is soft, the hardware is well done and it has feet! The color is a very pretty taupe/sand that goes with literally everything.

As far as the size, it fits a giant sunglasses case, i-phone with ultra thick card carrying protective case, lip-gloss, eye-liner, keys and...two pouches of toddler yogurt should you need them:) Somehow all my bags end up with my daughter's food at the bottom of them.

The shoes are a very comfortable black platform sandal also on SALE right now. I wear platforms a lot in the winter as long as it's dry outside. If you wear these with super opaque black tight they elongate your legs like nothing else. For someone with very short legs (like me), this is a big plus.

Hope you liked the outfit and see you mid-week!
