MOTO JACKET AND STRIPED DRESS

Sunday, February 28, 2016

moto jacket, biker jacket, faux leather jacket, slightly shrunken fit, tortoiseshell sunglasses, michael kors handbag, tophandle bag, structured handbag, spring handbag

I'm not really trend-driven and won't wear things that aren't flattering on me even if they're in. Leather jackets used to be one of those things that I didn't think were the greatest look on me. That's mainly because I'm finicky with fit and feel, and I couldn't find anything under $500 that wasn't too boxy, too thick or had some other problem. The other day though I popped into H&M and saw this little jacket on the rack, tried it on and was delighted that it actually fit me AND was super inexpensive.

DISTRESSED JEANS AND FLORAL SCARF

Thursday, February 25, 2016

weekend style, casual outfit, ripped jeans, boyfriend jeans, ankle booties, long-line cardigan, floral scarf

Until recently I wasn't the biggest fan of jeans. I used to have 2 pairs at most at any given time, which is insanely little for most women. The biggest reason that I didn't wear jeans as much as other things is that other than one or two designer brands (AG and Genetic are my favorite) I didn't find any to be soft enough for me. I know, I'm super picky but if you like me are OCD about soft jeans then at least you know you can trust my denim picks! So anyway, o
ne of the best things about this year for me, fashion-wise anyway, is the fact that there are so many actually soft non-designer jeans. That along with the fact that the recent trend in denim is away from skinnies and towards more relaxed styles makes me very happy. There are so many amazing options right now in boyfriend, girlfriend and the 70's flared leg styles!

WEEKEND STYLE: BLUSH MIDISKIRT AND LEOPARD TOP

Saturday, February 20, 2016

 Perfect spring outfit
This is the first weekend that it really feels like Spring is around the corner - so exciting. I picked this twirly rose skirt to wear for ice-cream Saturday with my husband and daughter in Salem, a historic town north of the city of Boston. The skirt is the most amazing neutral dusty pink and has a subtle gold sheen that just makes me happy. It's also pleated and midi-length, maybe just a tiny bit longer than midi. I love the feminine silhouette it creates - so graceful and flattering to the hips. A skirt like this adds so much to your wardrobe because it can be styled in endless ways. I'll probably be wearing this one on repeat through Spring and possibly even in the Fall. Really the perfect weekend skirt in my book.

OVERALLS AND LACE IN FRIGID WEATHER

Saturday, February 13, 2016

ripped denim, distressed denim, felted overcoat, double-breasted, black strappy shoes, winter style, prada camera bag, ATM coat, long-line coat

OVERALLS: AMERICAN EAGLE OUTFITTERS | TOP: HINGE | COAT: ANTHONY THOMAS MELILLO | SHOES: SOLE SOCIETY

My challenge today was figuring out how to style overalls for frigid weather. This is the coldest weekend of this winter and according to the good people of The Weather Channel it feels like 7 degrees - terrifying. But since everyone at #NYFW is braving similar conditions, I thought I should suck it up instead of hiding under a blanket at home all weekend. So I did go out...but am embarassed to report that I didn't make it very long.

THE PERFECT NEUTRAL SWEATER

Wednesday, February 10, 2016

Funnel neck sweater, chunky knit, winter style, latte, black booties, marc jacobs handbag
SWEATER: TOPSHOP | PANTS: PAIGE | BOOTS: BANANA REPUBLIC (similar HERE) | SUNGLASSES: BURBERRY (similar HERE)

Happy Wednesday everyone. You might recognize this sweater layered under my windowpane coat from this post. I wanted to do another post on this warm fuzzy sweater because I didn't show it properly before and I wanted to showcase some of the details of it. It has these amazing slightly belled out sleeves that are perfect hand-warmers, love that! I also love the neck - somewhere between a mock turtleneck and a full on turtleneck. It's just the right height to keep wind off my neck, which I really appreciate in the cold weather.

MONDAY STYLE: KILL IT AT WORK WITH A POWER DRESS

Monday, February 8, 2016

work style, week day wardrobe, power dress, boardroom style, mad men, feminine dress, hourglass shape, best styles for pear shapes
Happy Monday everyone! I wanted to post a power work look today, although if I was looking for one look that epitomizes my style, this would probably be it. I'm so happy the Mad Men style clothes are so on trend right now. Did anyone else watch that show? I loved Christina Hendrick's character. I can't pretend I can fill this dress out like she can but I still love it!

TRANSITIONING YOUR WARDROBE FROM WINTER TO SPRING

Wednesday, February 3, 2016

COAT: ZARA (similar HERE) | DRESS: ANN TAYLOR LOFT (similar HERE) | BAG: PRADA | TIGHTS: COMMANDO | SHOES: similar HERE | SUNGLASSES: BURBERRY (similar HERE)

It might not feel like it, but we're transitioning to Spring! This time of year there are warmer days and then utterly frigid ones so wardrobe can be a little tricky. One my strategies is to layer away, which also lets me get the most wear out of my clothes all year round. What I wore today is a classic example of easy layering and works really well as we transition from winter to spring.
